Next Stop New Orleans

On Thursday, March 27th we decided to move on to New Orleans.  We found a park just outside of the city, Bayou Seqnette State Park.  We had a nice campground but unfortunately we didn't get to take much advantage of it....

Our escort....
The drive to New Orleans was interesting.  After about 10 miles we stopped so Don could try his GPS.  We didn't want to go the way we came because we wanted to go east and not west.  I generally knew the direction we needed to go. Anyway as we were stopped a guy pulled up in his pickup and gave us directions to the highway.  Funny thing is that a few miles down the road we hit construction.  We had to get escorted through the construction zone about 5 miles.

On the road we had a few stops to make,  Home Depot, where I believe we got metal plates to keep the racks from poking holes into the trailer and then we went to the Wrangler Outlet store to get Don some clothes.  He already ruined a pair of jeans and didn't bring many t-shirts.

Next stop at Home Depot....is it 6?

The freeway was all elevated above the swamp.

We pulled into Bayou Segnette State Park and setup camp.  It was one of the better campsite that we have had.  We were hoping to take advantage and set up the croquet, but the weather definitely changed our plans.

After pulling off the kayaks, we jumped in the van and went into New Orleans for the evening.....walked around, got dinner and drinks, even beignets and coffee.  It was our first night to eat out, first city.

Julie found a great little authentic cajun place thanks to her iPhone and Yelp!

Coffee and Beignets at Cafe' Du Monde!

Since we left Sheba in the car we decided that before walking around Bourbon Street we needed to take her for a walk over but the pier.  It was a nice night!

Then to Bourbon Street to check it out and have a few drinks....

What happened to Don?  I think a gator got him.
Yuck!  Swampwater...

This picture is for you Jonah....:) (A t-shirt)

We had a fun night out in New Orleans!  It was a bit of a break for us both!
